Rooster’s Back Door

SKAT rating: 💩💩💩💩

Length: 9km   Elevation: 588m

A tough little critter, not because of elevation or length but lack of easily runnable sections and ground so rough its all but an invitation to roll an ankle!

Start and finish at the bus stop in Wong Chuk Wan, heading up the steep road on the right. The course passes a temple, runs along an ancient village path before turning straight up the ridge, eventually meeting MacLehose trail section 3 below Kai Kung Shan. Head up and over the peak, down the disgusting broken ground decent before hanging a right down to Shek Hang Village.

A bit of light relief with some runnable road, before taking a right, and a fairly steep climb up to Wong Mo Ying. Weave through the village to find another pretty steep climb, this time on trail. At the top of the hill take the route straight ahead, returning along the ancient path you started on back to the bus stop and finishing point. Job done.
